Volunteer Training Weekend: April 19-20
The Volunteer Training will be held at the
Powderfork Campgrounds in Bald Knob, AR. Please
mark these dates on your calendar now as well!
The training will start at 9:00 Saturday morning
and will end no later than 11:00 am on Sunday
morning. This training is mandatory for anyone
who is to be staying at camp. The training
program will inform you of medical, social, and
psychological needs of our campers, our program,
and Camp Quality itself. You will learn about
what it means to be a companion and what staff
positions are available. Your attendance at the
workshop will also give you an opportunity to
meet the rest of the companions and staff that
will be new to us this year.
Summer Camp 2008:
June 8-14 (Volunteers arrive June 7th)
This year a
circus will be at camp to teach our campers to
perform circus acts. Because of this, we will
be ending camp on Saturday, June 14th instead
of Friday. On Saturday, the kids will be
performing a circus of their own for the
volunteers and parents. Please make plans to
stay and watch. This may take place right after
lunch. Also, get ready for lots of exotic
animals, some great out side games, and a whole
lot of swimming, crafts and more.
Leadership
Weekend: November 21-23
The focus
of this weekend is to build confidence,
self-esteem, & other leadership traits for our
campers (and siblings) ages 13-18. The
exceptional component of the weekend will be
Saturday afternoon when everyone participates in
a high ropes course, climbing wall, giant’s
ladder, etc... It is an extremely safe system.
Approximately 50,000 people have participated in
the course with the worst type of injury being a
rope burn caused by not following directions.
NO INDIVIDUAL WILL BE FORCED TO DO ANYTHING THAT
THEY DO NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE DOING. |
